Weekly Update #1
Devlog - Dogonaut Weekly Update #1
Hello fellow Dogonauts!
In this week's update, we have some exciting changes and improvements to share with you!
Let's see what's new in this version of the game:
- Enemies no longer disappear upon contact. Instead, players now receive a brief period of invulnerability when they touch an enemy.
- Enemies will now respawn when you load from a checkpoint.
- We've introduced a game over screen instead of immediately making the player respawn.
- The double jump ability is now unlockable by collecting one of the four trophies and is not a default ability anymore. You won't be able to explore every area without this ability and some areas could be easier if you previously unlocked double jump.
- Finally some music! The first track was composed by Riccardo Maccarrone.
Additionally, you may have noticed that the first artwork for the instruction booklet has been uploaded to the game's page on itch.io. It was drawn by my partner Stefania Ginevra.
More art and details will be coming your way in the future.
On the development side, we're currently focused on expanding our roster of enemies and improving the combat system to make the game even more challenging and diverse. Our talented composer, Riccardo, is hard at work creating new music and sound effects for the upcoming update, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
Furthermore, we've restructured our codebase to streamline the implementation of new features, making development more efficient and exciting. This week, we've dedicated a significant amount of time to this endeavor.
We appreciate your continued support and enthusiasm for Dogonaut! Remember to follow us for next week's update, where we'll have even more exciting news and progress to share.
Thank you for being part of our journey!
Best regards,
The Dogonaut Development Team
